The view of palm trees in my eyes never fails to bring me joy. The tall thin trunks, the spread eagled branches with their luscious green leaves dancing in the gentle sea breeze, against a crisp and cloudless blue sky, just paints the presence of paradise. I love palm trees I could happily live anywhere that I knew I would be waking up to see them. But the thing with palm trees is that they don’t exist anywhere, they need the right climate to flourish and grow in.

I remember when I was a child, the people in a house round the corner from where we lived bought two palm trees and planted them in their garden. Everyone thought they were mad, palm trees don’t survive in England, and these quickly became the saddest, sickliest looking palm trees ever seen. Their stumpy trunks, brown falling leaves from broken branches underneath a cloudy, grey English sky, certainly did not display the image of paradise at all.
But as I sit on the edge of the beach gazing up at the canopy of palm branches, I understand the desire to be forever surrounded by this image and to want to have my home decorated with these happy trees. But you can not override the truth; palm trees can only be what they’re meant to be in the place where they belong, uprooting them only destroys their true purpose.

Hi, it's me again. It has been over 4 months since my last post and for that I am very sorry, rest assured I have not fallen off the edge of the world, just lost myself in the middle of nowhere in the outback of Australia. It was a busy and amazing time that went very quickly, connections were made, hearts were broken, lessons were learnt, obstacles overcome, and that’s all you need to know. Some journeys in life do not need to be shared beyond those with whom you experienced the moments with. But now I am embarking on a very exciting journey, my camera is out, my blog site is poised and ready and inspiration is flowing.

This time, I am very happy to say, I am not journeying alone, one of the best parts of the last 4 months was meeting this wonderful lady, Auxane, and together in our car, a white Holden Commodore called Billie-Rosy, we are on our way to explore Australia. Currently we are on the east coast in central Queensland. Our plan is to go north to Cairns, across to the Red Centre, up to Darwin then down the West Coast, across the Great Ocean Road then up to Brisbane by Christmas! Its a mammoth of an expedition and it will be full of challenges and adventure. Right now we're just adjusting to the loss of our comfort zone, goodbye schedule, goodbye income, goodbye hot showers, but we're saying hello to camping in nature, chilling in the sun and to all the wonder that Australia has to offer... Yesterday we explored Cape Hillsborough National Park, the beautiful views and fun treks and swarms of butterflies reminded us of all the amazing parts there are to this alive country and this is only just the beginning!
