Many people have asked me: Why Indonesia? The answer is, that several different reasons inspired me to purchase that one way ticket here; I wanted to go east, I’d decided that my next trip would take me into the Southern Hemisphere, I’d heard wonderful things from people who had been here, and I was curious to learn about another culture that is so very different from one I knew, but mostly because when I closed my eyes and pictured where I was meant to be, what I saw was green.

But it was worth the slightly scary drive, because at the top was one of those natural creations that take your breath away and you just exhale a “wow!”

They say don’t stay longer than 15minutes because its very sulphur polluted, and don’t wander close to water or you’ll get stuck in the “mud”!

From here we headed just a little further down the road to a tea plantation, which feels a bit like wandering though a maze, you have to slightly battle your way through to the top but its so stunningly gorgeous, especially if you’re like me and have a love for green!

Moving on again and up a steep stony path to area where a crater had created some natural springs which had been turned into pools. If you don’t mind the sulphurous smell you can have the most relaxing bathe of your life in these 40 degree pools, it’s a natural spa!

I couldn’t take my eyes away from this beyond beautiful place, pure paradise. This was what I dreamed of and here I was, I just stood in that place and breathed for a while, I couldn’t believe that I was there, and yet where else would I be.
These past couple of days I’ve been amazed at the turn around, my heart feels so blessed to be where I am, you know that feeling of being where you’re meant to be. When I arrived back to my hostel in Bandung on Friday night, one of the staff gave me a big hug and said welcome home! And I believed it, home for me is not a destination but rather calling, a feeling of belonging and of peace, and right then and there, I was home.
